In some monitors, all that is required to force the monitor to return the digital EDID is to use a DVI-D cable. I tried my monitor and DVI cable on a different PC and it worked fine so the problem is on my computer and more spefically my graphics card(I guess). I've personally had very good luck with fixing motherboards (and a monitor) by baking them, but its no guarantee by any means.
