  • As you have a second Mac, a final step you could try before taking the iMac to a service center is to try to access the iMac's drive via your MacBook

I didn't expect much but amazingly the DV recorder now works perfectly and all the discs I thought didn't work in it, now do. Startup Manager Most Mac users will probably only ever use the single drive that came with their system. CDs will read but make a horrible grinding noise on spin-up and spin-down.
