Open new RD but make sure the "Apply Windows key Combinations" is set to "On the remote computer"3. If you have already encountered the problem, the "workaround" is much as you described: 1. The fix we have in place actually addresses two different aspects of the fault, one specific sometimes it stops working or the keys do funky things.
