does anyone have any other suggestions? Cd and dvd rom is missing from my computer, device manager, even from everywhere? I may try disconnecting the SATA cable and see if it does the same thing when I put a disc in. Have you tried only the power connected without the SATA cable? Does the light still just flash? If a desktop, even if you think the drive is not dead, try moving it to another computer and/or putting a different CD/DVD drive into your computer to definitively rule that replace the CD and see if the New CD works..

aaaaaaa Using a paper click in the emergency opening in the front does nothing…. I've tried swapping the SATA cables, didn't work.
