Dvd/cd Drive Not Working On Mac
The default DVD player does not support playing Blu-Ray discs, certain commercial DVDs. I would also try the following just so you know you have tried most of the standard repair procedures: Running fsck in single user mode Restart (or start up) > hold lo and behold, the drive started working! - Plug in the SuperDrive directly to the computer's USB port.
- If your Mac doesn't have a built-in optical drive, you can use an external Apple USB SuperDrive with DVD Player.

in case it's a software based error. - checked apple knowledgebase for the error? I've tried resetting PRam.
